Chemical Free Oven Cleaner

When is the last time you cleaned your oven? I am not an oven cleaner for one reason…the smell! I cannot stand the smell that comes from the cleaner or from he oven when it is in clean mode. It gives me serious anxiety. In the first 7 years I lived in my current home I cleaned the oven a total of 2 times! I have to leave the house because of that smell…that probably isn’t the best idea either….Then I learned that my fears were totally justified! Oven cleaners contain substantial amounts of sodium or potassium hydroxide, meant to dissolve crusty, baked-on gunk. These chemicals can also burn skin, lungs and eyes. So, when I felt like I couldn’t breath when the oven was being cleaned… it was probably because I couldn’t breath!

My solution: Chemical free oven cleaner!

Chemical Free Oven Cleaner Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cup baking soda
• 1/2 cup sea salt
• 1/2 cup washing soda
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
• 10 drops Tea Tree Oil
• Filtered Water

Directions:

• Preheat oven to lowest temperature, turn it off
• Add baking soda, sea salt and washing soda to a small bowl Mix well
• add lemon and tea tree
• Add vinegar
• Slowly add water until it forms a thin paste
• It should be thin enough to spread on your oven walls
• Spread paste all over your oven and leave overnight
• Wipe out your oven with warm water
